1. Gigabyte Motherboard 6 Ram Slots

Jun 08, 2019  Will it work as Dual Channel mode, if i use 2.4GB and 2.8GB ram stick in a motherboard which has 4 ram slots.? Mobo: Asrock b450m pro4 Pro: Ryzen 5 2400G. First two ram slots not working. Just got my 8700k, it did not post in the first ram slot with 4gb in. Slots 3 and 4 work perfectly fine. The debug lights on my board go between dram and cpu issues flicker. My board is an msi krait gaming z370. Pls help because 32GB of ram is my next plan and a 2x16 kit kind of sounds crazy to me.

Gigabyte Motherboard 6 Ram Slots

Semi-random, occurred months ago but just now getting around to addressing the issue.
Motherboard is an Asus P6T, with 6 RAM slots.
CPU is a Xeon W3520.
RAM slots are populated with 6x4gb, for a total of 24gb. Everything was initially fine, but at some point in the past year, I realized during a reboot that the BIOS screen was only indicating 16gb, not the full 24. Booting into the OS confirmed, it sees 4x4gb. I've tested each stick of RAM, all sticks test out fine with no errors. I've also tested each slot.. I'm showing 16gb regardless of which 4 slots I populate. Essentially, it appears that while all 6 slots are seen, it will only allow me to address the RAM in 4 slots at a time.
When I first noticed this, I did a bit of quick Google searching, and saw a few suggestions that it could be a CPU issue, not motherboard. I *have* over clocked this system in the past, just to see where the limits were, but have not run it for any extended time OC'd beyond a few quick benchmarks. I don't have a spare CPU to test out that theory, but does it even sound reasonable? All BIOS memory settings are set to 'auto', all speed settings are 'auto', CPU is not OC'd in any way, etc. Just sort of drawing a blank - the fact that all 6 slots appear to be functional, but the system will not address more than 4 is leaving me a bit baffled.
Any ideas, or suggestions?
